Retreat (Knipe Moor variations) by Martin Greenland

In Martin's words:
I have painted several ‘retreat’ paintings and continue to do so. Often there is a somewhat desolate atmosphere to these ‘bastle houses’ but they are places which I want to emphasise are lived in. They represent myself. I have placed this fictional building in a fictional landscape but one which is distinctly based on Knipe Moor, an escarpment of limestone, east of the slate and granite of the eastern Lake District fells. The white walls stand in stark contrast to the velvet green pastures.
