The small artist's label to the back of the canvas, identifying the sitter as his wife Blanche, states that he is the President of the Lake Artists Society. Moorhouse held this position from 1946-1949, but the hair and clothes of the sitter are from an earlier time, circa 1930, so we must assume the label was applied at a later date.
