Exhibited at the artist's first major exhibition, staged at Barbizon Gallery, Glasgow in July of that year (label verso)

Ally was one of a group termed the New Glasgow Boys, which included Ken Currie and Peter Howson. A graduate of Glasgow School of Art, Ally was to become recognised for his surrealism and found success not just in the UK, but also holding several very successful (commercially and critically) shows in Paris and New York.

Sadly Ally died in 2016, aged just 60.
