New Work and the London Art Fair
5th January, 2026
5th January, 2026
Well a happy new year to all.
Firstly, before mentioning this month’s London Art Fair and some of the new works we’ll be exhibiting, we’d just like to highlight four new mixed media works which have just arrived in-gallery by the very talented Helen Fryer, all may be seen HERE in our New Work section, along with myriad others. Helen is West Cumbrian born and bred, and after a lengthy hiatus away from the county, she returned several years ago, with her work inspired by her Fell-side wanderings. Brooding and dramatic, Helen is never one to fall back on traditional tropes of “The Lakes”, for sure.
Immediately now onto the London Art Fair (LAF). In truth we’re glad this occurs in late January each year (20th to 25th this time); it lessens those January blues. We’ve just planned out our exhibition stand and it looks like we’ll be showcasing more works than normal. Many will be new to the world with the vast majority never having been art-fair exhibited before.
Brand new works by Craig Simpson and David Storey will sit alongside paintings by Norman Cornish, Stefan Orlowski, Sheila Fell (RA) (including our latest brooding example, Farm on the Moors, Yorkshire) and John Bellany (RA). At least two never-before-seen paintings from the late 1950s by Anthony Whishaw (RA) will also be on view, as well as works by Terry Frost (RA), Alan Davie, Ray Atkins and Charles Oakley, amongst many others.
Craig had a wonderfully successful year with us in 2025; a fabulous solo exhibition in May was followed by two new large paintings being exhibited at the British Art Fair at the Saatchi Gallery in September being sold almost immediately. We then found homes for a further nine of Craigs paintings over the course of the fair. At LAF this month we’ll have five new paintings by Craig awaiting new owners. However, such is the demand for Craig’s work, with countless clients asking for a “first look”, that we’ll operate the following process:
1) To be fair to all, no one will have prior sight, be it digitally or in person, of any of the new works until LAF doors open at 11am on 20th January; at that time, all will be made visible online and shared via social media
2) Of the five, no more than two will be available to acquire through online means (be it website or social media enquiry) until close of play on the following day, Wednesday. This will ensure that LAF visitors will have an opportunity to acquire paintings until at least the end of the Wednesday
3) Clients will be limited to acquiring one painting only
The above is as fair as we can think to make it whilst ensuring two things; that collectors who can’t get to the fair have a chance to acquire works and clients who are making the journey to the fair also have an opportunity, whilst also giving new collectors an opportunity. We’ve collected all five from Craig already and they're fabulous.
We have a number of complimentary tickets for the fair, should you wish to attend, please do let us know and we can send over a two-person named digital invitation to gain payment free entry.
All for now,
Steve and Christine
