Eclipsis was created for Halima’s solo exhibition at Blackwell, the Arts & Crafts House, Bowness-on-Windermere in 2023

Influenced by lunar eclipses, viewed in astrology as being deeply transformative times. A lunar eclipse can be an extremely powerful time for cleansing our emotional waters and setting intention for renewal and rejuvenation. As with Eclipsis, Eclipses are rare because they can only take place when the Sun, the Earth and the Moon are all aligned.

This design was inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement and the title was inspired by Bailey Scott as he was an instigator of government legislation to introduce larger windows to allow more light into everyday people’s homes, regardless of their social standing.

When Venn and Eclipsis are displayed together with the perfect space between them, their lines combine and are completed by their union to create a perfect circle, bringing our emotional and spiritual selves together into the perfect balance. The circle is a strong symbol which references many meanings that can be found in the spiritual and scientific worlds.
