J Edwards - The 100 Club - London 1949 by Mid-Century Modern Alternatives

By Jack Edwards, signed and label verso, dated 1949.
Originally named the Feldman Club, the 100 Club first opened its doors on Oxford Street in 1942. It became a huge part of the London live music scene, even during the Blitz, attracting names such as Glenn Miller. They even advertised with the slogan "Forget the Doodle Bug, come and Jitter Bug at the Feldman Club". This painting is a wonderful record of its post war height, being painted in 1949.
