The Castlegate Prize

28th October, 2019

We are thrilled to announce that today we are launching The Castlegate Prize, a brand new national open art competition with a first prize of £10,000. We are delighted to reveal that in addition to ourselves, we have three judges; Eileen Cooper (RA, OBE), first female Keeper of the Royal Academy in its history; famous writer and broadcaster Stuart Maconie and John Moores prize winner Martin Greenland. All competition entry fees will go to the wonderful charity YoungMinds, working with young people and their families, raising awareness of mental health issues in the young.

We’ve created a new website for the competition which may be seen HERE with entries open on the 23rd November, closing on 14th February. All competition details may be found on the website.

For our inaugural competition we’ve chosen the word “Hope” as the inspiration for artist’s work, a word we feel matches YoungMinds perfectly. We would encourage you to spread the word about The Castlegate Prize please; we think both the £10,000 prize and the support we can all give to YoungMinds through entries to the competition are both great incentives for people to apply. The more applicants we receive the more support we can help YoungMinds provide.
