Peascod, Bell, Major and more besides !
18th May, 2014
A sudden rush of new work into the gallery, to add to our Spring Selection http://www.castlegatehouse.co.uk/exhibition-details.php?EID=47 We've brought a quite astounding large Bill Peascod work from 1962; if you ever wanted a definition of mixed media, here it is. http://www.castlegatehouse.co.uk/paintings-for-sale/bill-peascod/landscape-1962/ Photos go only some of the way in conveying this work ! Next, we've brought six works by Bill Bell into the gallery, all from the same private-owner source. Be quick. http://www.castlegatehouse.co.uk/paintings-for-sale/bill-bell/ . Also into the gallery is something from our own collection, ready to pass on the baton of enjoyment. Just about the best Theodore Major Wigan "landscape" we've come across. Again, photos only do this part-justice http://www.castlegatehouse.co.uk/paintings-for-sale/theodore-major/factories-at-wigan/
Still to come in the next couple of weeks, are new works by Helen Fryer and Kate Bentley. Call in and see or keep an eye on the website..
Some news about two of our artists. Firstly, Hannah McAndrew has been crowned the prestigious Craft and Design, Maker of the Year award 2014. This is a marvellous achievement and real national recognition of her skill. http://www.castlegatehouse.co.uk/pottery-for-sale/hannah-mcandrew/
Secondly, Halima Cassell, internationally lauded sculptor (and northerner!), has added another achievement to her lengthy list (see her cv at the bottom of our web page http://www.castlegatehouse.co.uk/pottery-for-sale/halima-cassell/ ) as she now shares the limelight with the likes of Turner, Hepworth, Monet and Hopper, in being the subject of questions in this years GCSE Art examination paper ! Not your usual accolade, but one heck of a recognition of her place in the world of art. Well done Halima !
