Norman Cornish - A Centenary
20th June, 2019
Norman Cornish - A Centenary, is now live online and may be viewed HERE. A limited 200 edition publication of the seventy-page catalogue is available to purchase from the gallery with the e-version able to be viewed through the above or through this LINK. A quite superb video (once you get past our initial brief contribution!), with John Cornish talking about his father and his work/inspirations may be viewed HERE. In truth we never tire of watching/listening to John speak candidly and movingly about Norman.
The physical exhibition, a celebration of one of the UK's most respected artists chronicling a working class twentieth century, will open its doors on Saturday 6th July, with a reception 12-2pm; all works are available to be reserved to purchase from now. Judging from our last exhibition in 2017 and experience since, we expect interest in Norman's work to be high.
As representatives of the artist's estate, all of the works have come from the Cornish family with almost all having never before been seen.
We've sought to celebrate the centenary of Norman's birth with a broad spectrum of previously unseen work largely spanning the 1960s into the 1970s; works in many medium and covering life in and around Spennymoor, a typical British working class town, at work and at leisure.
This truly is an important and major exhibition and we hope many of you will be able to come and view the collective works in the flesh either on the 6th or in the near three weeks thereafter.
All for now,
Steve and Christine
