New work for May
29th April, 2017
Congratulations to Richard Fitton on his hugely successful first solo exhibition. We have a major show starting in June, more of that shortly, but taking us through to that we have a gallery full of new work, HERE
We have new to the gallery artists David Storey, ex of Workington and now of Brighton (it’s a long round drive-trip, trust me!) and award winning Lancaster based artist Sarah Jane Bellwood. Stunning work by gallery artist Helen Fryer, newly acquired works by the late Bill Bell and twelve rare pots from the estate of the late Edward Hughes. Do call into the gallery and take a look. The new to the gallery work by David and Sarah Jane really should be seen; David produces work that you can and are meant to apply your own narrative to and be drawn in towards, whilst Sarah Jane’s work is an outstanding example of the study of and obsession with common place objects and the ever changing light hours and days of study has upon them.
As mentioned, June will bring forth our following exhibition, Editions. Work by six of the UK’s most respected artists will be on show, namely Frank Auerbach, Grayson Perry (RA), Eileen Cooper (RA), John Hoyland (RA), Barbara Rae (RA) and Stephen Chambers (RA). Importantly, this will be an exhibition of edition works, such as etchings, woodcuts, screen-prints, and, in Grayson’s case, tapestry. More of that much later in May.
Don’t forget, we’ll be open on Bank Holiday Monday, May 1st, 10am-5pm, if you’re looking for a place to call in and spend some time taking in some great varied work.
See you soon,
Steve and Christine
