New work for March
2nd March, 2019
As we head towards our next solo exhibition, for Ceri Allen in April, we've collected a body of new work for the gallery from both emerging talent and much more established names.
We have works from the twentieth century from Sheila Fell (RA), Bill Bell and John Bellany (RA) together with work from two of our young stable of artists, namely Alice Campbell and Alex Hain. All may be seen HERE. These include a wonderful Mungrisdale painting by Sheila and a collection of six works by Bill Bell from a private collection.
We met with both Alice and Alex very recently and we'll be producing short films for both over the next few months. As well as more easy to accommodate sizes, Alex is working on a small number of truly huge works (think huge and then add some) which will be fascinating to see come to life as we go through the year.
Away from us, we'd thoroughly recommend visits to three exhibitions at the Newport Street Gallery south of the river in London, Piano Nobile in Holland Park and at Abbot Hall, Kendal. The former has a wonderful John Bellany and Alan Davie exhibition that's just this past week opened and features early works by both; just astounding. Piano Nobile has the most wonderful exhibition of works by Leon Kossoff on show and thoroughly deserves to do well. Abbot Hall's exhibition, Refuge, The Art of Belonging, shows artists such as Auerbach, Herman and Schwitters and is also well worth a visit.
All for now,
Steve and Christine
