Michael Bennett, Studio and Collection - exhibition
5th May, 2018
Now online, almost forty works by the late Michael Bennett, the majority only recently released from the artist's studio and personal collection and as such many never having been seen before. All may be seen HERE.
Mike had a long and successful career as an artist; lauded in the 1960s as an innovator of abstract (four of which are within this exhibition); showing with the likes of Hockney and Freud, Mike was to return to Cumbria in the 1970s after time in London and Yorkshire, continuing to produce his very individual works of art up until his death in 2016. He was, without question, one of the most innovative, talented and important artist of the region in the latter twentieth and into the twenty first centuries.
Doors will open on Saturday 19th May at 10am, with a reception from 12noon to 2pm. Both of Mike's sons, Justin and Giles, will be with us during the reception and I'm sure they'll be thrilled to speak with you all about their late father's life and work.
As usual, the gallery will be closed on Friday 18th May to allow us to hang the exhibition.
Hope to see many of you there on the day or over the three weeks of the exhibition, ending on 9th June.
