We’ve been rather busy acquiring new works for the gallery recently. Works by Sheila Fell, Bill Bell, John Bellany, Winifred Nicholson, Joan Eardley and Angus Neil are amongst them. All can be seen on the following link http://www.castlegatehouse.co.uk/new-work/

The painting by Joan Eardley, The Sea No. 6, is one of her dramatic Catterline seascapes, and is illustrated in the Christopher Andreae book. The three new-in paintings by Sheila Fell have never been seen in the gallery before, and span the 60s through to the 70s. We’re thrilled also to have privately acquired four paintings by Bill Bell over the weekend. These are as much a chronicle of an industrial Cumbria now largely gone, as they are works of art.

Also to mention that our next solo exhibition will be for the wonderful Helen Fryer, opening its doors on Saturday 19th March. More of that in the coming weeks. As a taster, we’ve put one of her new paintings, of the thirty eight we have, on the website here http://www.castlegatehouse.co.uk/paintings-for-sale/helen-fryer/park-end/ They’re all this good.

Finally, thanks to all who came to see us at the London Art Fair. It was hugely enjoyable but also somewhat exhausting. Hopefully we’ll be back again in 2017.

All for now,

Steve and Christine
