Ivar Mackay Retires and A Day in the Life
18th May, 2015
The hugely well regarded and collected ceramic artist, Ivar Mackay, has announced his retirement. Ivar studied ceramics at Harrow College of Art, and from both his previous home and studio in Alnick, and latterly since 2007 from his studio in rural France, he has produced the most wonderful ceramic-ware, defying what most would consider to be porcelain.
We have worked with Ivar to secure what will be his last ever release of work. http://www.castlegatehouse.co.uk/pottery-for-sale/ivar-mackay/ We're hugely proud to have secured this; Ivar has exhibited with some of the UK's most prestigious commercial and public galleries, from Edinburgh to London, Tokyo and Valencia, and his ceramics are held by the likes of Museo Nacional de Ceramica in Spain, American Museum of Ceramic Art in the US and St. Catherine's College, Cambridge.
Finally, a quick reminder that our major exhibition, A Day in the Life, will open its doors on Saturday 13th June. There will be a special event at the gallery that day, including live music from the London duo, The Left Outsides, food, wine etc. The catalogues are in-print as we speak and will go out in electronic and physical form in approximately two weeks time. The fifteen artists to be shown are; Sheila Fell (RA), Norman Cornish, Alan Lowndes, Ian Norris, Ceri Allen, Michael Bennett, John Thompson, John Bratby (RA), Paul Robinson, Bill Bell, Helen Tabor, Helen Fryer, Alan Stones, Rebecca Payn and Simeon Stafford.
All for now,
Steve and Christine
