It's feeling very autumnal at the gallery. The heating is on and the fire is lit, and we're finalising the pieces we'll show for the Winter exhibition starting on the 17th November, with the aim of providing great art to suit all pockets.

Continuing our travels around the UK, obtaining works to bring to the gallery, last week we drove to Norfolk to purchase a number of works by Percy Kelly. These had been purchased from the gallery many years ago and are now ready for new homes. We'll bring these out over time, but right now one is hung in the gallery and is on the web site http://www.castlegatehouse.co.uk/paintings-for-sale/percy-kelly/ It's an amazing large view of Maryport, and for PK fans, really should be seen. If anyone is interested in this, or would like some information about the others we acquired, just let us know.

2013 is shaping up well. We're still speaking with one or two Northen/Cumbrian nationally-known artists, but already as it stands, we have the following:

Easter - Bill Bell. We truly love his work. People who saw our first exhibition may recall the painting The Escalator by Bill. He's the epitome of that Northern (in his case Barrow) 20th Century realism. We're working with his family to begin to bring his work, sadly left after his death, to Castlegate.

July/August - The Paintings of Alan Stones and Rebecca Payn. A rare opportunity to view and acquire new and original paintings. Both are very well known and highly respected artists within Cumbria and beyond. As a taster, we'll be showing a small selection of their paintings in our Winter exhibition from November.

Autumn - Michael Bennett, 50 Years (1963 - 2013). We're thrilled we've acquired Mike's wonderful abstract work from circa 1963, and together with Mike, we'll be showing this along side his new work for 2013.

One other point, a lady contacted us this week about a wedding list service at the gallery. The ability for people to contribute to a fund dedicated to providing the soon-to-be married couple with a budget for a painting. We've been very happy to arrange this for them, and think it's a great idea. So, if that appeals to anyone going forward, we're happy to help.

That's it for now. Don't forget you can still see a large range of new works by artists old and new at the gallery right now. http://www.castlegatehouse.co.uk/exhibition-details.php?EID=26
