Edward Hughes has lived and worked in Japan for many years. The Japanese influence can be seen in his work. He has many pieces in public collections. The V & A has just acquires one of his platters.
Charles oakley studied at the Slade and has a long history of exhibiting in London, Ireland and Cumbria where he now lives. He was for many years a lecturer at Newcastle University Art Department as Head of Fine Art. He is now retired and enjoys painting and constructing boxes which have hidden meanings and gradually reveal themselves. Many have historical or History of Art Themes. Oakley has a self-confessed interest in great failures so is obsessed by failed expeditions to Everest and the Shackleton story.
